PDF to Word Converter: How to use
 
Starting PDF to Word Converter
There are three options to start PDF to Word Converter. The second and third options are available if user has chosen them during installation process.
  • Click on the left bottom Start button, go to GIRDAC, then PDF to Word Converter, and again PDF to Word Converter and click on PDF to Word Converter
  • Double click on the PDF to Word Converter icon on the desktop
  • From the Windows Explorer, right-click on the PDF file, and them click on PDF to Word Converter
Modifying Options
Click on the Edit menu, then Options. (or use the Options button on the Toolbar). It pops up PDF to Word Converter Options window to set / modify options for PDF conversion.
It shows selected options (if already selected), otherwise it shows default options.
File It allows selecting single or multiple PDF files for conversion.
Folder It allows selecting a folder for conversion. It converts all PDF files in the selected folder and its sub-folders.
PDF It allows selecting PDF folder. Whenever the first Browse button is clicked, Select PDF file dialog box shows the PDF files in this folder.
Browse This is the first Browse button. It pops up Select PDF folder to select the default PDF folder.
Save to It allows selecting Save folder. Whenever PDF file or folder is selected, the selected Save to path is filled in the Save to text box.
Browse This is the second Browse button. It pops up Select Save folder to select the default Save folder.
Flowing It extracts text, columns, tables, tabular data and images in the same format as in the PDF file. It is just a replica of PDF page.
Exact It picks text, columns, tables, tabular data and images using text boxes in Microsoft Word. It is also just a replica of PDF page.
Formatted text It extracts text, columns, tables and tabular data retaining the same format as in PDF file. It does not pick images from PDF file. It is also just a replica of PDF page, but without images.
Plain text It takes out text, columns and tabular data. It does not pick images from PDF file. It does not retain format. User can open converted file in a text editor like Microsoft Windows Notepad.
Images It pulls out out images in the PDF file. It saves the images in the selected Save to folder.
All It allows selecting all pages in the PDF for conversion.
From It allows selecting a page range in the PDF for conversion. The first text box allows entering the starting page range and the second text box to enter the ending page range. For instance, if a PDF file has 15 pages, and user types 6 in the From text box and 9 in the to text box, it converts the pages 6 to 9 in the PDF file.
Style It allows selecting one of the three interface styles: Office 2000, Office 2002 and Office 2003. Switching from one style to another requires to exit the application and restart it.
Open document for editing after conversion If user checks this option, the converted file will be opened for editing. It allows editing .DOC, .RTF and .TXT files. Windows selects the editor depending on the file association set on the system. This option works when user selects single PDF file for conversion using either Flowing or Exact or Formatted text or Plain text.
Overwrite output file, if it exists If user checks this option and the same output file exists in the Save to path, it overwrites the output file. If user does not check this option and the same output file exists in the Save to path, it does not convert the PDF file.
Save file format It allows selecting the output file format from combo box.
Layout File format
Flowing .DOC and .RTF
Exact .DOC and .RTF
Formatted text .DOC and .RTF
Plain text .TXT
Images .PNG
Note: If user selects single PDF file, the file extension shown in the Save to text box should match with the selected File format.
User Interface Language It allows selecting any one of the supported languages from the combo box. The user interface languages names are always shown in English because English is the default language. Currently 40 languages are supported.
Help It shows the Help Topics.
OK Click this button to close Options dialog. It saves currently shown selections.
Cancel Click this button to close Options dialog. It does not save any changes in options.
Apply Click this button when option(s) are selected. Then click OK button, if no more options to be changed.
When user sets any of these options, he / she can see these options whenever he / she starts PDF to Word Converter.

Selecting PDF FIle
Click on the File menu, then Select PDF file (or use the Select PDF file button on the Toolbar) (or click on the first Browse button.
It pops up Select PDF file dialog to choose PDF file(s) for conversion.
To select PDF file, click on the filename, and then click on Open button.
To select more than one PDF file, click on the filenames keeping Ctrl key pressed, and then click on Open button.
User can select a maximum of 64 files at a time.
To convert large number of PDF files, put PDF files in a folder, select that folder using Folder option..
To close without selecting a file, click Cancel button.
Another way to close is to click the X in the upper right corner.
After selecting PDF file, the PDF path is displayed in the PDF text box.

Selecting PDF Folder
Click on the File menu, then Select PDF folder (or use the Select PDF folder button on the Toolbar, (or click on the PDF Folder option button, then click first Browse button.
It pops up Select PDF folder dialog to choose PDF folder for conversion.
To select PDF folder, click on the folder, and then click on OK button.
All PDF files in the selected folder and its sub-folders will be converted.
Total number of PDF files in the selected folder and its sub-folders should not exceed 1000.
Same folder structure is created in the 'Save to' path folder, if such folder structure does not exist.
To close without selecting a folder, click Cancel button.
Another way to close is to click the X in the upper right corner.
After selecting PDF folder, the PDF path is displayed in the PDF text box.
